InitTool 1.1 Development Release Build 9

Post by jay »

A new release of initiative tool is now available.

This is mostly fixes to better support dragging and dropping from IT to MT. Support for transferring the full MT macros (color, font, hot keys, groups, everything) with the rest of the data. This functionality will only work with MT build 60 which hasn't been released yet.

The full list of changes:
  • Refactored startup to share code between CT, IT, & Game Settings Tool
  • Upgraded Drag & Drop to latest MT macro format.
  • Updating or reloading the game settings files no longer clears the encounter.

Now that build 60 of maptool is out, can you explain how to drag and drop from one to the other?

Just drag any combatant in IT's initiative list (not timers or phases) with a token image set for it. It has to have a token or MT doesn't really know what to do with it. All of the hard work is done internally. There are some important things to remember though:
  • The IT game settings file has to have a definition of what properties need to be transferred to MT or no data will appear in MT even though the token does show up in MT.
  • MT's property definition has to have all the required properties defined in its configuration or the data will not be visible in MT, even though it may actually be defined in the token.
  • For macros to work properly there may also need to be library tokens or other MT configuration such as state and bar definitions. What is needed is dependent on the framework used.
  • You can't drag from MT to IT. Dragging tokens just moves them. Right now you have to use MT's save feature (by right clicking on a token). The file this generates can then be imported into IT (or CT).
