MapTool 1.3 Development Build 24

Post by trevor »

The "We're almost stable again" build:

Build 24 (1/29/08)
* Allow multiple token movement with keyboard
* Allow negative numbers in /goto (also make "," in between coords optional)
* Add token label
* Add "Show this dialog" checkbox on the new token dialog
* Combine the Pointer and Stamp tool
* Add new help menu items: Documentation, Tutorials, Forums (opens browser, Super Thanks to Brad for the fantastic tutorials)

* Fix bug: topology not clearing cache when topology changes
* Fix bug: player view is not showing vision outline
* Fix bug: copy token from gridded to non gridded map breaks pathing
* Fix bug: token state graphics not rotating with the token
* Fix bug: stamps not stretching correctly
* Fix bug: saved tokens are not displaying decorations correctly in Resource Library

* Check Memory directly instead of using the "run" parameter in boot up scripts (Contributed by Phergus)

NOTES:
- I really like the combining of the stamp and pointer tool, but I don't like that the layer dialog shows up when MT first boots. I think I'll add a view toggle for it. I'm interested in hearing what you guys think
- CTRL-P is still broken, I should be getting that fixed for the next build
- Please test the topology, I'd really like to put it to bed (note, this doesn't mean it's done being improved, just that the bugs have been ironed out with what exists so far)

Topology's looking good, haven't been able to break it yet.

Did get some oddness with halos though.

I assume this will fix itself once halos match the base rather than the image, but it's kind of odd right now.

EDIT: Found a light passing through walls bug, details and campaign link PM'd.
Everything in this post may be wrong.

Looking good! Seemed to load up the last b23 map I was working on just fine. Haven't found any topo bugs yet... and that's definitely the key to this build!

I do like the single pointer change - is there a way to switch layers with a key command?

I like the label idea... It'll be interesting to see how this goes. I'm eager for potentially a color swash next to the label (and I guess name for that matter) that allows you to select the background color.

Topology isn't breaking now, nice job!

Also, a question: How do I change the memory settings in the WebStart version of Maptool? (Im a Windows user)

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out (I edited the jnlp file with a text editor)

Need to update the downloads page to the current build number.

Need to upload the current TokenTool to the downloads directory. :)

glad the topo is working better. I've received Vry's campaign and will investigate for the next build.

b25 will focus on halos, card decks, and bug fixes.

I can't wait for the card decks. Its the only major thing stopping me from using Maptools with games other than regular RPGs. Someone also mentioned in the Deck thread that Decks would be useful for dice that don't have numbers on them. This is exactly right. A fairly good dungeon crawler we have been playinig a bit is Descent and its a pain passing the custom Dice around. I made my own little Dice rolling program for Windows mobile using graphics for each dice face. A Deck should make things even easier.

Keep up the good work!!!

When it comes to "custom dice" wouldn't tables fit that rule better than decks?

You're the man Trevor! Any time someone asks me why I chose MapTools over other VTT's, I'm always glad that I can say, "they have constant support and maintenance which a lot of others don't." So thanks. :D
