MapTool 1.3 Development Build 44

Post by trevor »

The "Bug squishy squishy" build

Build 44
* Fix Vision Blocking Layer (VBL) bug that caused some enclosed areas to stop working

Contributed by mkarasek
* roll.count now starts at 0 instead of 1.
* New roll option: u(nformatted). Same output as e, but without the formatting (i.e. not wrapped in a span tag) so it can be embedded in a tooltip.
* p(lain) roll option renamed to r(esult).
* Parameter for t option is now evaluated after the roll. In addition, there is a new variable, roll.result, that lets you use the result of the roll in the tooltip parameter.

Contributed by Craig Wisniewski
* Creating a new Campaign or Global macro button brings up the edit macro dialog so you can enter the details, this makes the add new action consistent across campaign/global/selected token/impersonated token panels.
* Fixed bug: Changing macro buttons for selected/impersonated tokens would not always work. This fix is for add/duplicate/delete.
* Changing maps will now clear the selection/impersonated token panels
* Deleting tokens will now remove them from the selected/impersonated panels if they were on them

Contributed by Lindharin
* Running a global/campaign macro with "Run as Each Selected" or the "Apply To Each Selected" macro option will no longer clear your Impersonate panel; it now automatically goes back to impersonating whichever token name was being impersonated before the button was pressed.
* Bug fix: Hot keys will now work with the global/campaign macro option "Apply To Each Selected"

Contributed by Jay
* Fix bug: Add/Update button not enabling for states properly
* Upped the amount of increments allowed to 100
* Changed default health bar to green.

I've still got several contributions that added new features that I decided to hold off for this build, so another build will show up some time late this week.

Hmm, it launches for me. The exception you posted suggests a failure to even launch the program (opposed to a failure while starting up the program).

Try downloading from here:

http://download.rptools.net/zip/maptool-1.3.b44.zip

Is anybody else having trouble launching ?

It's not launching from the webfile for me...at least it hasn't yet, and I've had it trying for a good while now...

Doesn't look promising...

Orchard, are you on a mac too ? wondering if it got built with java 6 instead of java 5 since I built it on a machine that I don't normally build on.

If that's the case then look for b45 veeeeeeeeery soon :)

Yep.

Here is the stack trace from the Terminal window:

Looks like something built in Java 6 got into the JAR file...

"couldn't be launched check the console for possible error messages"

It should be noted that I am running MacOS 10.5.5.

Mine launched, but now I can't start a server (but that may be a port forwarding issue on my end).

Just out of curiosity, for the people who got it to load, did it run faster?

I was able to run b45 last night. But we had lots of problems.

I was dropped from the connection about every 15 minutes or so. Tokens that I moved wouldn't move on the server and weren't propagated to other players. My chat messages would never be sent. My token changes (state, properties, macros) were never sent, so when the GM moved the token it would revert back and lose the state changes that had been made locally. :( I ended up putting the macros in my Campaign tab and when I was disconnected and reconnected they were still there.

Twice the server had to be stopped and restarted due to various connection issues or MT locking up (the server was running on a Linux box).

I was a part of that game as well and I admit that it was pretty frustrating. Even though it was a new build, I still don't think we can rule out the quality of the connection between the server (UK) and the clients (USA). If I understand correctly, updates to clients are not done all at the same time, but one-by-one. With five clients, I wonder how many comms just timed out. I don't know MT's logic for handling comms that take too long, but it would have been interesting to see what would happen if someone put up a server that was more local? Without testing, it is hard to say.

Anyone else experience lockups or a lack of updating from the clients to server to clients?
