MapTool 1.1 Development Release Build 34 Release Candidate 2

Post by trevor »

Getting down to the final days before 1.1 is released. Here is a minor update that attempts to fix the "line segment not show up soon enough" bug. Please let me know if you still observer that behavior.

I will most likely make one more RC release, which will mostly contain "polish" and any bugfixes for critical bugs you all might find in RC2. Please bang away !

Build 34 (11/30/06) RC2
* Fix "Loading" state bug for bounded maps
* Attempt to fix race condition on drawable rendering
* Fix rendering artifacts on token tree panel mini image
* Pass focus to the map when double clicking a token in the token tree (support immediate Copy/Paste actions)
* Add "Copy" tokens to the token and stamp context popup menus

I installed Java Update 9 on my laptop and the line drawing problem seems to be resolved. It will be quite a bit later today before I'll be able to test it on my desktop system.

Are you saying that the line problem still existed even with the release of B34-RC2 and it was Java that fixed it?

or

Are you saying that Java fixed it with the last version and you figured that out before going to B34-RC2?

I'm pretty sure java is not the culprit in this case, but a race condition. Hopefully my tweak fixed it.

Just tested B34 on my desktop PC and the problem is fixed.

Is the tweak responsible for that redraw delay? When you end a poly-line (that is left click again) the whole multi-segment line disappears for a 1/4 sec and then reappears.

No, that's always been that way. Drawables actually go to the server before they are committed, so what you see is the delay it takes to send it to your internal server, and then have it come back.

This round trip will be removed during 1.2.

Glad the problem is fixed :) I think we may have an actual 1.1 RC !

Seems pretty stable as far as I've been able to test it.

MapTool certainly has made some good progress this year.

I would agree Phergus. I also can't wait till 1.2 and beyond to see what Trevor and the gang come out with.

I am looking forward to Dynamic Fog of War and any new tools they might think of.
