[Tutorial] Playing sound and music directly thru Teamspeak

Post by booga »

This is not directly releated to Maptool, but this tutorial could be very useful to online GMs who use Teampseak.

The video tutorial on Youtube is HERE

The purpose of this tutorial is to show GMs how to configure your computer and Teamspeak so that they can play music and sound effects directly into Teamspeak 3. Most of the tools used are free and are fairly easy to configure.

I've been using this method for a few years now, and many GMs from my online French RPG community (http://www.jdrvirtuel.com) use it as well. It's got a lot of advantages compared to using built-in Teamspeak3 sound bot plugins or third-party streaming servers.

Tools allowing to bring your music from you music players to Teamspeak (only one is necessary) :

-- Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) :
http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm#download
(cheap and worth every penny)

-- VB-Audio Virtual Cable:
http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/index.htm
(free but not as powerful as VAC)

Sound Players I'm using for most of my games:

--Winamp to play music playlists:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php ... 9#download

--Soundscene to play sound effects:
http://scenesound.cyclobster.com/

-- RPG atmosphere to play already made sound atmospheres:
http://www.examiner.com/article/free-st ... atmosphere

And of course Teamspeak 3:

Let me know if you have any queston, and comments are welcome.
