[Tool] godeckyourself: Gaming Card Maker (Power Cards, etc)

Post by daan »

I've launched a free website where you can create, share and download print quality gaming cards as pdf.

It's ideal for Players and DMs who want to create a deck of homebrew cards quickly for their weekly gaming session, without fiddling too much with layout.

Its still in Beta and I'm looking for feedback. Give it a try and tell me what you think!

These could make interesting handouts and reference cards as well...

Very cool! I like the idea!

I remember the old spell cards that came out for 2E and these could be used the same way (as long as the user printed them on card stock).

When viewed with Firefox:

1. There's no image caching for the mouseovers so the images are constantly being reloaded;

2. If the initial mouseover popup causes the window to become taller or wider, I get scrollbars from the browser but can't actually use them. However, the second mouseover seems to fix this and the image is placed so as to avoid this issue;

3. The menu along the left contains the string "DND:" when the page itself specifically references D&D 4E Not a problem but it feels like a mismatch. Not sure how to fix this one, though;

Very nice job! I'm thinking it might be cool to create some to represent Harrow cards as used in the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path. The only problem is that I can't upload actual images due to licensing (there would have to be some way to restrict viewing to only those people in my gaming group). But I'm not concerned about this as I already have the images in MapTool with macros to generate a "reading".

Thanks for the link!

Added new card styles and extra features to godeckyourself.com.

New features:

* Style Library: Users can now visually inspect and select available card templates and styles, instead of having to browse through them via textual links.
* Linebreak support
* Pre-filled in fields: Fields that are generally static will be copied over to new cards in the deck. The Character Creator style Power Card is the only style currently configured for this, more will follow.
* Download Emergency Patch: Download issues won't be gone, but should be less frequent.

New Styles:

Love it! Really nicely put together. I don't have much use for cards right now, since I'm DM'ing my campaign and dont want to try to keep stacks of cards straight, but I'm recommending this site to my players, if they want to make cards for themselves. Love the new textures, my only thought was on the description boxes. Is there a way to center the text in those fields, both horizontally and vertically? If not, no problem. I'm just picky like that.

Hello,

I found your site godeckyourself a few months ago and I found it amazing! However, it's been on maintenance for the past 3 days. Is this something normal? I had over 60 cards created for a prototype...

Thanks,
