The good news is : it's working with IE (6). It auto detects french, all the basic navigation is in french (like for creating a user account, search, home page etc.) and when I go the page I've started to modify, the URL is still http://lmwcs.com/rptools/wiki/Introduction_to_Mapping but it shows the content of http://lmwcs.com/rptools/wiki/Introduct ... Mapping/fr (cool !).

The bad news is : autodetect doesn't seem to work with Firefox 3.x. (English is shown selected in the dropdown list).
But once i've choosen French in the dropdown and start navigating, it's ok.

(EDIT : PS : french Windows XP, Firefox and IE in French etc ...)
You may have to go into Firefox and tell it explicity which lanague you want used as a default. A browser, when it connects to a website/page will sent it's list of preferred languages, and a properly built website will detect that list and send back the best one.

Tools->Options, Content tab Click Languages... make sure your favorite language is at the top..
I save all my Campaign Files to DropBox. Not only can I access a campaign file from pretty much any OS that will run Maptool(Win,OSX, linux), but each file is versioned, so if something goes crazy wild, I can always roll back to a previous version of the same file.

Get your Dropbox 2GB via my referral link, and as a bonus, I get an extra 250 MB of space. Even if you don't don't use my link, I still enthusiastically recommend Dropbox..

I forgot to mention that I also did check this setting (I even add all the different "fr" variations before english, like fr-fr, fr-ca etc.)
It didn't have any effect.

Wow, that sounds like a bug in FF then.

The Accept-Languages header should be sent to the web server and that's what it uses to negotiate on language choices. If the browser isn't sending it...

Would you visit the main web site with FF and then PM me with your external IP address? Maybe the web server logs will show me exactly what your browser is actually sending. (The IP address is so that I can link up your connection in the logs.) Thanks.

I think this might be a configuration issue with the extension(the default settings, not Craig's config ;) ). I believe it tries to use the wiki's preferred language if the client has that language on their preferred language list, regardless of order.

I removed every language from my FF setting except french but the Wiki acts the same : english is selected.

What does the following line do in the Main Page source ?
{{Languages|Main Page}}

Has it an effect on the main title of the page displayed on top ?
Because I've translated http://lmwcs.com/rptools/wiki/Main_Page to http://lmwcs.com/rptools/wiki/Main_Page/fr
and it automatically shows "Main Page/fr" as the title but I would like to show "Page Principale" while keeping the url to http://.../Main_Page/fr ?
Is it possible ?

zEal sent me a few configuration changes to the plugins, I have made those changes so if you want to give it another go to see if it redirects you properly.

It's the tag that places the language bar template; the "Main Page" is to tell the template how to look for subpages with language codes. It always needs to be the name of the English page even when it's placed on the translated pages.

There's a way to do this, but it's going to require an extension. I'll get with Craig about it and let you know how to use it once it's installed.

Ok. Noted. Thanks.

That's very nice of you two, but I don't want it to be a PITA for you to install ?

Introduction to Mapping is all translated.
It took longer than I thought.
I'll try to hire some more volunteers ;)

I'm happy to announce that I found another volunteer for the french translation of the wiki, and that Thallaxwish (that's the guy) is a hard worker (more than I am on this subject)

http://lmwcs.com/rptools/wiki/Main_Page/fr

Those are done :
Introduction to Mapping
Introduction to Game Hosting
Introduction to Tokens
Introduction to Properties

And those are work in progress :
MapTool Preferences
Introduction to Macro Writing
