Fast, Furious and Fun Fantasy Introduction to SW

We had our game on Thursday night at 8 p.m. with the following players in attendance

Trevor as Brunt Ratbridge the Barbarian
RPMiller as Fox the elven militant
Amaril Marcus as TwoHands, Human Theif
tdwyer11b as Gar Ironhelm, the Orc Barbarian
Foo Dog as Varael Stormblade, Human Knight
Crazy Bear as Merula Lanus Human Necromancess

The adventure started like all good adventures start, in a tavern.

The heroes recently fought to save the village of Socanth with others to defeat the evil necromancer Thomas Ochan and his plague of undead. As other, more powerful heroes pursued the necromancer, the PCs stayed behind to protect the Socanth. The heroes celebrated Ochan's defeat in the Grey Hawk Inn gladly accepting the gratitude of the village.

During the celebration the lone, remaining militia man entered the tavern requesting the characters investigate why all the rats were abandoning the city's sewer system. The characters complied, entering the sewer wondering what all the fuss was about.

The characters found rats fleeing the sewer playing them no heed. Following the sewer tunnel, the adventurers found a hole in the wall out of which rats poured. With a bit of muscle, Brunt the Barbarian widened the hole large enough for the characters to enter. They found a catacombs filled with very old bones. Fox remembered that Socanth was once much larger with a great number of people who died during a plague. The characters reasoned that the area on the other side of the hole must be from the time of the plague.

The characters found a section of the floor collapsed due to an underground stream. Marcus Twohands jumped over first, quickly followed by Varael Stormblade. The others followed, some being assisted by their comrades. [I allowed the characters on the crumbly side of the jump to help with the second strength check. On the downside if they failed they could have fallen in as well]

[A few things to note on the screen shot above. Characters have individual vision and light. Further, you are able to specify which sort of vision a character has, either normal, lowlight or infravision. You'll also see a circle with an 'i' in it. This is used as an information marker. When the players click on it, it reveals a pic and text as defined by the GM. The text also as a GM section that only he/she can see. In this case I described the collapsed floor in the players section and the rolls needed to cross in the GM section.]

After getting past the the chasm, the characters proceeded North and were swarmed over by a large number of rats. Once determining that attacking the rats did no good, the characters climb up the niches containing skeletons to allow the rodents to pass. Others ran forward only to find a group of Zombies waiting.

[Note that the human knight can only see a few of the zombies based on how much the torch light reveals. The players for Fox and Gar, both with lowlight vision, can see considerably more.]

The thief, Marcus Twohands ran into the room attacking the lead zombie. He killed it quickly but was surrounded by the remaining Zombies. The others of the group joined the attack but discovered that some of the zombies emitted a deadly green gas when killed.

When exposed to the gas, the characters were either unaffected, fatigued or wounded (based on a vigor check), Brunt ran in making a sweep attack killing four zombies at once. Other characters used ranged weapons staying clear of the gas. After a number of Zombies were killed, Brunt and Marcus were not in good shape.

[In the screen shot above, you can see Brunt and Marcus with wound and fatigue markers (yellow for fatigue, red for wound). Merula has a shaken marker due to backlash from a spell]

As the session ended, Brunt was injured. Marcus was gravely injured but the characters managed to kill all the zombies.

We ended the session here as Marcus TwoHands' player had to leave due his is wife going into labor. (false labor as it turned out). A few days later he messaged me with news of his new baby girl. :-)

We finally finished the adventure off. The characters didn't manage to finish off the guardian bone golem off before the transformation but did manage to defeat the Lich Ochan.

Here are some screen shots.
