I think it is basically a smart board (or interactive whiteboard) with projector. But the guy is doing some sort of PhD research to better take advatage of the technology. I'm sure this is way out of reach for 99% of gamers, but man it sure would be nice. His main site: http://www.edwardtse.com/

Perhaps you (the developers) can continue to build your map tools with smart board projection in mind. (even though it is prohibitively expensive)
