Just an idea... Sound

Post by stefam »

Integration of music and sound effects - kind of an RPGSoundmixer-lite might be cool. Could be connected with Maptool.

Just an idea, while I'm waiting for RPGSoundmixer 2.0....

Yeah, I would like a "send sound" button to send a .wav file, a "campaign music" option to play an mp3 or other file to all players. and maybe a button to start SKype or whatever you use integrated with the ChatTool whatever it turns out to be.

Interesting. It looks like it's built for local play, not internet play, which is understandable.

The tricky part about sound is getting it to work on all three major platforms: win, linux, mac. Graphics is pretty well supported across the two, but sound is a different story.

Perhaps I'll put together a test sound function and have everyone try it and provide feedback.

depending on how much you are going to do with sound, you could just do three versions. This isn't elegant, but it would work if most of the code was the same and only the sound was different. Or, you could just declare that sound wouldn't work on platform x.

It would probably be something like that. Then when people find an incompatibility, we might be able to look at those cases individually.
