Can't find a simple example!

OK so I was tired of waiting for people to create and update their frameworks for 5E
so I am attempting to write my own macro's but I am no coder.
(Yes, I realize this is going to be a LONGGGG bumpy road for me!)

I have tried and searched but cannot find a simple stupid example of how to make a drop down selection list (say for race) and then assign the selection in the race property.

The freaking Wiki looks like it was written by and for coders only grrrrrr!!!
Can anyone point me to the "Macro's for Dummies" isle

But, really, the forums are your best tutorials. There are almost 3000 topics in the macro section alone.
