Tables with specific and (ostensibly) unusual results like that work better if you replace the entry after it is used.

There are a lot of tables like that in Vornheim, and this is specifically called out in that book. I had never thought of replacing the used table entries upon use before that. But once introduced to the concept, it seemed obvious.
It's a big world out there. Go tear it up.
