Post subject: Java error when opening Maptools

I recently reformatted my computer while updating from Windows XP to Windows 7, before I reformatted I was able to run Maptools 1.3b88. After I finished reformatting and had updated all my drivers and Java I tried to open map tools for a weekly DnD session and the error above came up. Since then I've gone back and re-installed Java, even going so far as downloading older versions of Java incase the maptools was incompatible with the current version. I'm at a loss for what do do so any help would be appreciated.

Follow this guide: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21980

I recommend you use b87 since some key features in b88 are broken. b87 should be able to open b88 files, but with a warning.

Did as you said an hallellujiah the Maptools opened with no java error, but now I have to problem of not being able to connect to the DMs server because the campaign is on b88. It pops up with and error screen saying I need b88 with no option to proceed anyways.

You can copy the mt.cfg file from b87 folder to the b88 folder and start MapTool b88 version.

I would say again that b88 is broken (but semi functional). The major problems are dropping tokens on to map and resizing tokens (mostly GM problems).
