[1.4.0.0] airbrush tool for drawing textures

Post by Makreig »

I've recently been playing around with using the drawing tools to apply textures to the background layer of map. However, i have found that the only way to currently blend textures to gether is by using multiple layers of textures with different opacities.

There isn't even any options for gradients (tranparent to opaque), an irbrush tool would be a higly effecient way to fix this and would enable much higher quality maps to be built using the program, instead of building the maps using other art programs and importing them in. Most art programs already have this tool and allow it to be used as a mask layer. Simply having gradient fills of shapes (opaque to transparent) would be an incredibly usefull tool, but an airbrush would be far more effecient.

I am a big fan of creating maps natively in Maptool, and if we had such tools I would use them. However complex drawing functions are not a good use of our development time. We are better off concentrating on the things that make it a better Virtual Table Top and leave the artist tools to the specialists.

This would be AMAZING!

Even if it was just as simple as set a pixel radius around the brush to fade to transparent would save countless hours making maps look amazing. Once my game is setup all my time in map tools is spent making maps (at least 4x as much as actually using it in session which is just for combat) so I end up sacrificing some detail / polish.

I know the idea was shot down but I just wanted to add my enthusiastic +1 to it.
