Randomizing texures similar to Dundjinni on draw tools
I do not know if this has already been discussed or is in MT and I'm not seeing how to do it, but one of the really awesome features of Dundjinni was when using the draw tools with a texture if you had textures named - grass-a.jpg, grass-b.jpg, grass-c.jpg etc... the draw tools would randomize through those to kill the "computer generated tile" effect.
I recently dove back into trying MT and was surprised when my texture sets did not randomize. So, either I'm doing something wrong or I found a way to enhance MT
Any thoughts?

Hmmm. Interesting idea. Was it randomize by the whole tile or would it chop it up? In other words would it use 100% of each grass tile or maybe 42% of Grass-A, 23% of Grass B, 98% grass-C, 63% grass-A, etc, randoming taking slices or gradient transparency slices, etc.
Or, if you have screen shots....

Don't you need compatible textures to do that or is there a way of blending the textures?

Yeah... it sounds like you'd need a very particular set of textures to use a feature like this.Jagged wrote:Don't you need compatible textures to do that or is there a way of blending the textures?
Maptool is the Millennium Falcon of VTT's -- "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."

Yes, it used 100% of each tile and the tiles are made special for the task so that all edges are compatible with each other.
For example:

So just how many tiles are really compatible like this? I mean, it's a cool idea and all but i'm sure I have way more groups of textures that would look terrible rather than good.
ROI could be kinda low on this request...

Re: Randomizing texures similar to Dundjinni on draw tools
i could post dozens of sets, not to mention all the ones on the DJ forums... now that i look at it, there are 6210 files in my tiles folder, of them there are 513 files ending in -c indicating 513 sets with at lest 3 in them and the default is 4 or 5 i think
I would be happy to share of course

If you could share that would be great. No promises but you never know...

Re: Randomizing texures similar to Dundjinni on draw tools
I felt like being lazy and just posting my whole library but I only have 2GB available on my Dropbox so I had to delete the Objects folder.
Enjoy the excess all! Every file was from the DJ forums and the CSUAC project. http://www.dundjinni.com/forums/forum_t ... FID=8&PN=0
The tiles involved for this thread are located in the tiles folder. Any tile named "Filename-x.jpg" qualifies, where "x" is a letter a~z. Some go as high as "i" in the a~z so we would need to program for a large number of tile variety.
