 Post subject: connected as player, but "loading campaign" never goes away
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2012 1:41 am
I upgraded to v88, and wanted to test out something. So I started up an empty campaign on my PC, and did a weblaunch on the wife's PC. It starts up just fine, and loads ok. I then connect to the server and it begins loading, but never leaves the "loading campaign" stage. Everything's greyed out.

I know the connection is working, as I can "chat" and it appears on her screen, and I can draw and it appears on her screen.

the campaign is empty (brand new) with only a few lines of drawing on it.

Any ideas?

a bit silly maybe, but did you try again? I mean reboot both pc's and just try again. I've had a similar issue when running a campaign and one of my players kept being locked in the 'loading' screen, mostly restarting the campaign and simply trying again works.
After that I would suggest a reinstall and after that... well that what this forum is for :mrgreen:

Is the single map marked as 'visible to players'?

@Akodo - good question

Also, I've had player have an error when loading a large map, retry and then never be able to load the map again. The sign to look out for is when loading having the ability to type in chat and click campaign buttons while the loading popup is still on. The only way I've been able to fix is to clear the cached assets in .maptool.

THANKS EVERYONE - it's working now.

The first thing I checked was player visible. I checked that (and other settings) like 5 times. But that wasn't it because it wasn't interactive - it was stuck in the "loading" phase. It wasn't like the player (my wife's pc) couldn't see it - the player actually could, but she couldn't interact.

the rebooting (overnight) and retrying this morning seemed to fix it. I have no idea why that would have any effect. IT MAY have something to do with that it being the first time that Java ran a "pure java" application on her machine. I'm 70% certain that it's the first time full Java's been active. But this is all speculation.

thanks everyone.
