Hi folks--

Whenever I try to host a maptools game, 2 players can usually connect--but players 3, 4, and 5 generally have difficulty. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any consistency: the player who connects effortlessly for one session is out in the cold in another. I am running with DSL on a slightly older machine. I'll happily post details if need be. Just now I'm wondering whether to go back to firewall-digging (I certainly thought I had my port forwarded correctly!) or if I'm simply exceeding the capability of my hardware.... Is this possible?

Thanks!

Well. Either port forwarding. Is working or it's not..and it is or there would be no players.. Check the network FAQ. There is a section about network card setting which is almost certainly your issue(or a sucky ISP)

I save all my Campaign Files to DropBox. Not only can I access a campaign file from pretty much any OS that will run Maptool(Win,OSX, linux), but each file is versioned, so if something goes crazy wild, I can always roll back to a previous version of the same file.

Get your Dropbox 2GB via my referral link, and as a bonus, I get an extra 250 MB of space. Even if you don't don't use my link, I still enthusiastically recommend Dropbox..

Will do. Alas--I'm pretty sure my ISP falls into the "sucky" category--unfortunately, it's the only game in town. So here's hoping it's a network card setting....
