How do I adjust hex grid proportions?

Post by Colette »

Would anyone happen to know how to adjust a hex grid's proportions on MapTool?

I created a map on Hexographer.

Each hex on my map has a height of 42 pixels and a width of 48 pixels.

However, MapTool is refusing to allow me to set the exact proportions of my hexes even with adjust grid (Ctrl+Shift+A), so my map never aligns.

These two threads show that adjusting hex proportions is clearly possible, but they do not explain how.

Does anyone here know how to do it?

in thread 18084 you are watching a picture of a resized grid, which AM created and dropped in the background. You cannot change the ration of any of the grids, just their size.

Hex map grid size is really buggy, but you can try this.

Create Map, set all your distance mods and select the 2nd cell type.
Go to Map | Adjust Grid - set top value to 42 and hit enter. It will auto adjust bottom value to a value near 88, but not quite.
Type in the bottom value of 45.24 and hit enter. Now this is the buggy part. It will change that value to 47.238. Hit the Close button and the map will adjust again to 48.0.

You can verify by opening the Adjust Grid window again and it'll show you. Clicking Close again won't change it. I tested this on b89.

Like I said, buggy. It seem to want to adjust towards it's optimal ratio.
