 Post subject: Difference In Pixels
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:56 pm
Ok. I must be dumber than a rock! I am looking at a map using 50 pixels and a 50 pixel tile set compared to a 100 pixel and 100 pixel tile set, but I cannot see the difference.

Could someone enlighten me as what the difference is between 50, 100, and 200 pixel tile sets please?

Thank you in advance.

Usually when you place tiles you do so in the background. In that case the tiles will be 'freesize' meaning that they keep there original size instead of covering and exact amount of cells (medium =1, large = 4 etc.). However you still would want them to cover exactly a certain amount of cells 1,4,9,16 etc. so you have to make sure that your cell gridsize matches that of the tile gridsize.
E.g. if you like to build 'blurry but fast' maps you use 50px per cell, while if you like 'sharp but slow' maps you use 200px per cell. Depending on your style and taste you can thus pick that type of tile set.
So in all the 50,100 and 200 are exactly the same except that they have a different resolution an can thus match 50, 100 or 200px cells.
