Can Connect Direct Only with Windows Firewall Disabled

Hi, all.

I've poked a pinhole in my gateway and my friend can log in from outside my LAN with no problem. Tried to connect on this side of the gateway and I couldn't from a laptop, so I added a port to Windows Firewall and tried again. Timeout.

Trying to isolate, I turned off the Windows Firewall and it worked without issue. I've tried adding a rule for inbound and outbound for 51234, but still no dice.

I'm running Windows 7.

Any suggestions?

I had this issue a couple years back when I was still living at home. It's an oddity, but having Windows Firewall temporarily disabled while you play a game session on the LAN is probably not going to hurt you at all, particularly if you are not distracted by surfing the internet while you play. I never had an issue with gaming this way.

If the firewall is the issue you should have the javaw.exe in your exclusions list. As to which one depends on your method for starting MT and which java version you have.
