Object vbl hiding objects

Post by Hypatia »

Having trouble with the generate vbl for objects in 1.4.1.8
When the vbl is generated the players cannot see the objects.
Probably something simple but I just can't find it. The object is ticked visible to players but the vbl is covering it.
What am I doing wrong?

Object VBL doesn't preclude itself from VBL.

What you want to check is "Always Visible". It's on the same tab and on the token Right-Click menu. *Note: This draws the token last...always...no matter it's layer. (it has to for technical reasons). So they will always be on top of other tokens (unless those are also marked Always Visible, then normal z-order takes place)

I had actually tried that but found that you could then see the object even though the FOW hadn't actually revealed it yet. It would be great if the object could be visible.
Thank you for responding though.

That's not really true. As soon as a token can see 2/9ths of the object (by default, changeable via tolerance setting) the object is shown. This lets you see a door or statue when only seeing part of the door. If the objects is 100% of of view then it is covered by fow.

To truly see what PC tokens can see, your best bet is always to start a server and connect as a PC with PC tokens as a test.
