Feature Request: Macro Buttons

Post by rkathey »

The bar at the top of the chat window (where the chat pin check box is) looks large enough to handle a row of buttons. Might be a nice place to put buttons that are assignable to user macros. :-)

Assignable buttons could also go in a collapsible panel like Connections, Image Explorer, and Tokens.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the RPTrolls are readying another attack of proposed functionality on the developers.

Tracker created.

The real question is whether the macro buttons would be useful when the chat panel is not visible.

I was wondering that as well. I guess it comes down to whether or not macros will affect tokens, connections, and map data without involving the chat window.

Which, once the javascript macro is built, will be a very distinct possibility.

Perhaps when the chat window is open it will be in the top part, and when it's closed buttons with assigned macros will show up in the bottom part of the map. Configurably visible as well.

A better place for it might be under the connections window in stead of in the chat window.

In Gametable, they made the side info area (token/image/who's online) into a tabbed area...

Maybe a long slender tabbed area at the bottom that includes the chat, that is a tab that switches to the chat tab or the tab "lights up" upon reciept of text, etc. and is configurable/expandable.

It might use space more efficiently ;)

Buttons for dicerolling are very requested.

Maptool is the best tool for internet role-playing, but there are a weakness - buttonless.

Please, do it quickly.

Please, don't forget about FUDGE players (we need 4dF roll - range from -4 to +4).

Good luck.

I have never played FUDGE, could you provide a little more detail? Right now DiceTool is capable of having user defined functions written in javascript and anything we add to MapTool will be able to do the same thing. This might be a candidate for that? fudge(4) instead of 4DF?

You're in luck ! Macro buttons are are the plate for the release just after 1.0 :)

As a side note, you can do a /roll 1d9-5 to get a range -4 to +4 in the mean time.

or 4d3-8 to be more like fudges. Probabilty is the same that way. a fudge is d3-2, so 4(d3-2) or 4d3-8 is 4 fudges

"The standard technique is to roll 4 "Fudge" dice at once, abbreviated as "4dF". Fudge dice are 6-sided dice with "+" on two faces, "-" on two faces, and with two faces blank"
