I'm new here. Is there a way to play with pre-made NPC's? Perhaps by downloading someone else's maptool setup? I'm only holding off on this because i don't want to make them all over again.

i got a couple of those lying around from different adventures. note that there is a text parser in which you can copy paste entire charactersheets (like from the books) and they're automatically translated on a token!

edit: heres a link to my lib of tokens, there might be npc in there as well, not sure.

When i paste this into the text parser for a token, it gives me a input value popup and asks me to set value for skills, talents, equipment etc.

ok I:
1. dragged a token onto the map
2. set it to 'character' propertytype (default, so basically I just hit 'ok')
3. ran: Token Props Parser - Txt Box
4. pasted the above stats in the textbox and hit enter
5. got a couple of 'unknown gear' (as expected)
token was set.

so everything worked.
what did you do different?

I set it to NPC.

hmm I just checked and the default IS npc! so that works too. if it still doesnt work share you campaign (through eg dropbox) with instructions.

1. Opened the maptool launcher, set it to stack size 3 (I've also tried stack size 2, no joy) and opened campaign
2. Closed the popups
3. Dragged a token onto the map
4. Used default NPC
5. ran: Token Props Parser - Txt Box
6. pasted the above stats in the textbox and clicked save. No response when i hit enter.

I think that there lies your problem!! did you close the token macro frame??
That frame 'initializes' a token when dragged onto map. During the initialization you can e.g. set a token up as 'ship, horde, vehicle, character, etc.

If I close that I get all kinds of pop-ups. If I open it, everything works as it should.
