[edit] ...and I just noticed you can unlock the ratio. So, nevermind.

...however, it currently only supports centering in the middle. Anyway to have it center the overlay on the left or right side, so that you can use a long token as taking up 2 squares, instead of only 1 or 4?

In the token edit window on the config tab use the image box on the lower left. You can use the mousewheel to scale the image and click-drag to move it around. The only problem with this is it will screw with your state images as well. It sometimes works out, but often makes everything awkward, misaligned, and non-uniform.

Ah, thanks.

By moving the token to the Object layer, manually resizing it to fit the right area, and using this technique to make it center correctly, and then moving it back to the token layer, you can actually approximate a long token fairly well. The only downside is that MapTool seems to think that the token takes up 4 squares instead of the two it actually takes up.

So, if I were using targeting, it'd be a bit of a pain to handle, but otherwise, it's a decent (if time-consuming) workaround.

Yeah, all MapTool tokens (i.e. images on the token layer) are required to be square right now. Even if the image isn't square, the bounding box around the token is. :|

Even if the mechanic-driven bounding box is square, the workaround at least allows the selectable bounding box to fit the token, which is a start.

Now only if MapTool would make it easier on us...
