How do I get this to run?

Looks great, but do you have an FAQ to help with this n00b?

(looks like I need Java 1.5 but my work PC does not have it - I might have to wait tell I get home)

The webstart links work for me on WinXP with Java 5

Couple clarification questions:

- What operating system ?
- Do you get an error message ? (Usually there is a Details button that pops up a new window, select the Exception tab and copy that content here)
- What version of Java do you have installed ? (open a command shell Start->Run->cmd for WinXP, type java -version)

We'll get you hooked up:)

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!

- I have WinXP w/ java 5 (1.5.0_06 actually - latest update)
- Oddly enough, I don't get an error. Webstart begins (I get the little splash-screen) and it hangs, and then quits. When I do this with the webstart console window open, it shows me nothing.

I'm a bit perplexed. Any ideas?

Hmmm. Not sure about the webstart not working, let's focus on the command line. I've downloaded and verified that the file is broken. It looks like an old file.

We'll get it updated and see if that fixes it. Give me a couple minutes ...

Ok, I've uploaded a new version of DiceTool 1.0M1 to sourceforge, try downloading the zip file again and try to run it from the command line, send me any exceptions or console output you get

That did the trick!

It seems to be working now. Thanks for the help trevor. FYI, I tried the webstart again after I dl'ed the new version and got a 404 page error; not sure if you did something there, but thought I'd let you know if you were unaware.

Thanks again!

Cool, glad to help. I didn't write the DiceTool, giliath did, but feel free to write up suggestions and feature requests to this forum :)
