B63, Equipped Items, Specific skill check mods

All,

We are running the 1.3B63 framework (haven't had time to port our customizations to the new framework) and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to equip an item that grants a skill check bonus to specific skill checks. For example, we recently acquired a magic item that grants bonuses to spot, search and disable device and we want to be able to equip it to get the bonus, then unequip to remove. I know we can edit the skills for the various bonuses, but odds are the item will circulate among folks for specific purposes/reasons so we are looking for an easy way to essentially add/remove the various bonuses on the fly. Using something like a specific global/campaign/selection macros is just as good as the official equipped items list.
