Greetings all. I'm a MapTools lover and avid user.
I refuse to use physical maps or minis anymore.
It's all maptools, all the time.
I've been really frustrated with the lack of available maps.
Looking in the published module support thread, 6 discussions: http://forums.rptools.net/viewforum.php?f=70
and the Complete Maps thread, 8 discussions: http://forums.rptools.net/viewforum.php?f=77
leaves a lot to be desired.
As a busy DM, with more money than time, as I'm sure most of us are,
I would love to see a marketplace where I could simply:
1) purchase a map for the module I want to run,
2) commission a custom map made,
3) or just purchase a pre-existing map and build my encounter around that.
Unfortunately, no marketplace exists for this currently and I'm curious if that's because:
1) no one has thought about it,
2) or if no one wants it?
Let me know your thoughts.
Would people be willing to purchase maps?
Would anyone be interested in being paid to make maps?
Would someone pay for maps pre-made for existing published modules?
Thank you for your time and input!

Re: RPTools Marketplace
Well ... first there are a few map designer that sell their maps in maptool format. A search for maptool on rpgnow.com gives you like 80 items.
Then there are many free items around, some from artists that wanted to "pay back" to the maptool community, some from people deeply believing in public domain/open source (I'm being mushy with these words here - I know they have strict distinctions and definitions).
I would say there are places were artists can sell maptool related products, so why have someone do a special shop for that? Keep in mind that MapTool is not created by a company but by some cool guys and user community - so who should do it? Who should earn money with it?
EDIT: well, if we throw links around than we cant forget Fantastic Maps @ RPGNow

Joshua is one of the few that makes awesome maps that make full use of MT functionality (the "one dollar dungeon" maps). For only a little fee. If you dig around you'll find A LOT of usable and free maps around.

Re: RPTools Marketplace
I have a few dozen maps that I've used for Star Wars and Pathfinder. Every one of them has sight blocking already set up, as well as NPC tokens.
I have no problem trading them for cash, or taking a commission for new maps.
As a resume, I've been running games using Maptools for quite some time now, and here's my previous and current campaigns:
http://the-edge-of-starlight.blogspot.com/
This was the Star Wars Saga Edition campaign I ran for a few months.
http://tales-of-the-inner-sea.blogspot.com/
This is a Pathfinder campaign that is currently ongoing.
http://shadows-and-chrome.blogspot.com/
...and finally, this is the Chaos 6010 campaign that just launched. As an employee of the publishing company that produces Chaos 6010, this is my pride and joy, and I've taken what works from previous games and incorporated into this.
