 Post subject: No idea if this is the right forum. help is needed

Not quite sure if this is the right forum to be posting help questions on. but When I try to launch maptool it tells me error: unable to launch maptool jar file etc. the launch pdf says that the file needs to be in the same folder. It is.... Anyone that can help a noob user out?

Try searching the Maptool forum for.bat file. Point is you r environment path to java is not setup correctly, this can be circumvented by using a bat launch.

The alternative is using a b90 beta which works fine. This can be found through the bag of tricks link in my Sig.
