Flying units and vision

Hi guys

So one of my dear players have decided that he loves having a flying familiar scout whenever he and his group are on a map that is outside. This gives me some challenges in regards to vision.

Lets say i have the map of the castle in the swamp from Hoard of the Dragon Queen. Here i would need my flying unit to be able to scout over the walls for example, so being able to ignore thoose VBLs but not being able to ignore the VBLs of the rooms. Can you say whether this is possible in any way?

Create 2 maps. One with the interiors and one with the exterior.

yup. with the BoT you can even go so far as two swap the vbl together with the roof. So as soon a token goes 'inside' (that is moved over the door that was not locked) the vbl stored of the interior is swapped with the VBL of the exterior. (and back if they move out again).
