How'd that work out for all the fappening victims?

What the heck is "fappening"?

Do you mean those stupid celebrities that picked lousy passwords? Anyone with a bad passwords gets what they deserve. :)

They should have at least turned on two factor authentication!

But it definitely is tough to be using good passwords everywhere...

It wasn't primarily "stupid" passwords. It was Apple being just as stupid with security as every other company out there. You can pick and choose your finger pointing but Apple has a history of sucking just as bad:

Brilliant. Any password system that could be brute force hacked falls quite a bit short of "looking out for you". That's the lowest hanging fruit for idiot hackers.

Encryption plays a good role too. Apparently MD5 encryption is super hackable. I remember my old workplace used that for some things.

Here's a pretty entertaining/scary video about your passwords: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U-RbOKanYs

scary indeed...

for those interested: here's the rockyou dictionary. You can check is your pw is in there (and *know* your screwed) or if its in there partially.

I would suggest np++ to view and search this file cause a default editor will choke on this.

Passwords are a ridiculous solution for modern computer security. They were fine in the 80s, but completely unwieldy now.

You have to use a password that's at least 20 characters, isn't related to anything you'd remember, use all the characters and change it every month, for every site you use. People can't do that, we're not machines.
