Steel: RPGMapShare

Post by dorpond »

Hey, not sure if you just don't care for me, but the website won't allow me to see replies to posts or post new messages. :P

I know it is a work in progress but I thought I'd let you know just in case you didn't.

Take care and thanks again for doing this for the community!

(I would have posted this there but I couldn't nor could I find an e-mail in the contact section :) )

Well that is strange--

I come to work (where I usually visit RPGMapshare) and I am able to do everything.

At home, I specifically noticed these things:
When I visited the site, it didn't say Dorpond was logged in. So I went to login but I almost got the feeling that it was a partial login - nothing really happens or says "Welcome Dorpond". It didn't say Dorpond on the top of the left had side of the page but it did say on the bottom that 2 guests were logged in and so was Dorpond (that wasn't there before I logged in). So since my name was now on the bottom, that tells me that it must have logged in. But the top still didn't show me and neither did any of the options you get when you log in - I couldn't even post or read replies to the orginal messages.

To double verify that it wasn't fat fingers, I tried to login 3 more times. Again, nothing welcomed me or changed from what I could see after the login. Again, no options to do anything.

I am at work now so I cannot test it until later. I can tell you some things about that system:

WinXP
SP1 only (that system does things for me that I cannot do on SP2 systems)
IE6 version unknown atm.

I will test this out on a users PC that I am putting together here in my office and see what I get there.

Later!

Well it works fine on a different system at work.

Hmmm... obviously the problem isn't yours. I will have to check it out tongiht when I get home.

I really wouldn't think it would be WinXP SP1 related, would it?

I'll investigate and get back with you.

Trevor, sorry for using your board for this - I was helpless this AM and figured Steel could help me here. You can remove this thread if you like.

Hey Dorpond.

Yes, I just don't like you!

Sounds like it might be a cookies problem on your home machine. Might want to make sure you're not blocking first party cookies (I always block third party, though on my PCs). I'm able to access without trouble from work, and two PCs at home.

FYI, for anyone needing to contact me on the site but can't post a message, you should be able to go to the User List, selecrt the user, then click the Contact tab.

Well, I cannot for the life of me allow your website to work on this computer.

I changed as many settings in IE as I could.

It is like I said before: it is partially login in. When I go up there, it doesn't know it is me nor does it tell me that I am on-line. I login but nothing changes however on the bottom it says that Dorpond is logged in.

It is the strangest thing..

So I went default on all my IE settings and that didn't work either. Then I tried lowering all the security settings - nothing..

Like I said though, I am running SP1, not SP2 on the XP box.
IE version is: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.050301-1526 (what in the hell kinda version is that Microsloth!?)

*shrug*

I guess I won't be posting up there much on the weekends and weeknights.
*crowd claps and agrees that they shouldn't help Dorpond fix this*

Yeah, I use Firefox, in spite of problems it has as well with some content, but I have no problem logging in with IE either.

Not sure Dorpond. Did you try clearing your cache and deleting cookies?

lol, yeah, excludes Dorpond.

FYI Dorpond, I made some cookie setting changes, so give it another try and let me know if it works for you.

Well I found out some information Steel.

When I did delete my cookies, all worked fine -- for about 30 minutes. Then the same thing happened again and I had to delete the cookies again for it to work right.

Very very strange. Did you try downloading Firefox and see if that works any better?
