MapTool ALPHA Build 102 Development Notes

Post by trevor »

Ahh man, I just put in the simplified keystroke movement, and it freaking rocks !

- Select a token (soon this will be easier by just tabbing)
- Hit a numeric pad movement
- move around till you're done
- Hit 5 on the numeric pad (or 'D' if on a laptop)

It's totally sweet.

I also refactored to movement calculations which will hopefully clear up some of the weirdness some of you have been running into.

Gonna see what I can do about the token stack popup drag, then will do another build.

Also, I put in a switch that turns off token movement as soon as you use a key to move the token.

Uhh, let me qualify that a bit:

disables mouse movement.

That is, as soon as you use a key movement, the token movement will no longer follow the mouse. Useful for more accurate pathing

This may be fixed now but I noticed a little oddness when using the arrow keys with the space bar.

When ever I hit the space bar the 'tail' showed a point back at the origin point of the keyed movement from the current token location. The distance displayed changed to include this extra distance back to the original location.

To reproduce:
Select Token
hit P
move token with num pad keys
hit space bar
move in a different direction
hit space bar

At this point you'll see a tail back to the origin point. It does a similar thing with you use a combination of mouse and arrow keys except the extra tail appears to the point where you started using the arrow keys.

The distance calculation corrects itself once you start moving again. Its only after you hit the space bar that it appears incorrect.

This is only a nuisance bug. The functionality works great.

Interesting, that exact one showed up a while ago, and was squashed (was a bugger to figure out too). Seems the keystrokes have reintroduced it. Fortunately it should be easier to find this time.

Thanks for the report.

Getting a little better health wise. Still feel like crap though.

On a positive note, I think I've figured out the method to make the token stack popup drag correctly, so I'll be hammering on that today.

We should have a new build here pretty soon.

My entire family went down last week with a combination of strep, mono and flu. I was the last troll standing. Guess all that air travel boosted my immune system. Either that or I'm some sort of typhoid mary-troll.

On the up side, CRT radiation is a known bacteria killer (amoung other things). You're out of luck if you're coding behind and LCD however.
