Looking forward to v1.1

Post by trevor »

So I was getting itchy and decided to go through and clear out the old deprecated trackers, and start adding ones I'd like to work on for v1.1.

Feel free to take a look and promote your favorites here:

Trackers: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_i ... tid=724899

Just put int Group v1.1 to see what I've added. At this point it is all tentative, but I'd like to start looking forward.

Note that from v1.0 on we plan to have a point release every month or two, so don't feel too bad if your fav isn't listed (hexes). We'll get there, promise :)

A note on hexes, since I know it'll come up. I need to spend some time cleaning up the codebase, during which time I'll investigate the depth and width of change that would be necessary. That's why I can't assign it to a specific release yet, I have to investigate it further first. It will also probably be an iterative process. First just make the grid work, then make pathing work, then make measurements work. Something like that.

Oh yeah, and while I'm thinking about it, I'll probably rewrite TokenTool while MapTool sits in Release Candidate mode for a week or two.

So we'll be getting advance notices of the features you're thinking of implementing, like you do with Maptool... (hint, hint :) )

Looks good! :)
I'll have to ponder the order of preference, but... you could do them in order of ease to implement. That way we'd get the most in the least amont of time ;)

This is roughly what I'm thinking:

4 panels: Overlay, composition, preview, and details

OVERLAY
Will be much easier to manage overlays
Will hide the pink borders
Will include overlays without borders for 1x1, 2x1, 1x2, 1x3, 3x1

COMPOSITION
Will work very similar to the way it does now

PREVIEW
Moved to its own panel in the top right corner of the window

DETAILS
This section will have controls for specifying the end size of the image, translucency, and other misc stuff

So, that's what I'm thinking. If any of you would like to describe their perfect idea of TokenTool, post it here :)

Is there a tentative order?
You could use my suggestion a few posts ago ;)

Here's my vote

0. Hexes (sorry, couldn't resist)
1. Create quick-key macro buttons (very, very, very cool)
2. Animated gifs (very, very cool)
3. Token property: Notes (needed)
4. Special Effects (hehe, can't wait for blood splats)
5. Fire and forget animations (very cool)
6. Support map notes (needed)
7. GM switch to lock all player token movement (I said STOP)
8. Support a "notes" text file associated with the campaign (coolness)
9. Support token grouping (needed)

most of those work just with the animated gifs, RPTroll.

My suggestions would be something like this.
In no particular order
animated gifs
option: make anigifs delete after they are finished
user-set hotkeys to drop specific things, let users configure hotkeys
more macros (generic)
Definetly top, sorry for the hipocracy (i said no particular order), integrate dicetool, and maybe do a few dicetool improvements.
hexes, maybe
let gm lock the colors players can draw and erase
let users set their own quickmaps
Put a thing in the newserver dialog where you can go to an online chatroom and start servers inside it with servers inside of the room listed on a side panel so it is easier to find a game or find players
more stuff i can't remember
Chaotic Neutral means never having to say you're sorry.
