Are these TokenTool ? I thought you were using PhotoShop ...

Photoshop..

But the reason is to keep all my pictures and tokens in one file and in layers. I have all my special effects that I put on the token in layers. If I want to add the three little bars around the token, I just turn on that layer; if I want to change the Tokens look or feel, I just change it..

Although I LOVE TokenTool, I prefer the advanced features of Photoshop when creating art.

I hope you don't mind :(

I'm totally fine with this. TokenTool is intentioned for those non graphically inclined people, like me, to be able to make pretty things quickly and easily :)

Perhaps someday TT will become sufficiently powerful that you won't need PS anymore ...

And that could be sooner than you think; if you could have layers in TT, then I could throw those overlays in there. Give us the options to turn layers on and off so we can choose which overlays we want at the time and voila!

I could then get busy creating overlays for people too!

What kind of layers do you imagine: background, ring, sheen ? Something like that ? (of course there's the obvious answer of "arbitrarily stacked images" which is certainly doable, just curious what kinds of images would be used in the layers)

That was my thought when I sent you those sample advanced overlay files.
TokenTool's speed and ease with photoshop-like fanciness would be a wonderful thing.

Which I have safely tucked into my TODO list :)

Well, I have some of the following layers:

1. Actual Token Ring (ring)
2. Shaded/transparent inner circle overlays (inside of ring)
3. Inscriptions engraved on the ring. (on ring)
4. Cool looking Gold and Silver marks similar to original Rptools Token. (on ring)
5. Actual Photo Layer (inside of ring but under #2)

Perhaps some people would like effects on the outside of the ring? That could be another layer. (outside of ring)

This is my layer order:
5 (bottom)
2
1
4
3 (top)

It sounds like instead of multiple layers, really there are just more intelligent overlays.

Specifically, I could provide an interface for creating overlays (OverlayTool ? heh). Then you would use these in the same way the current overlays work. That way TokenTool stays the exact same in usage, and your custom advanced overlays could be shared more easily.
