This plugin is intended to supplement inputs with voice recognition capabilities. These voice capabilities work in parallel with traditional mouse/keyboard input, so the option is always there to use either.

Having said that, the Prompt Plugin can be taken further to provide voice shortcuts to common chat messages or even to launch player accessible macros using voice.

The Prompt Plugin has multiple grammar options from specifying a few possible selection directly in the MT macro file, to referencing external grammar files to swapping between different external grammar files. All of this means you can customize the plugin to make it as simple or complex as you want.

You can actually try this Plugin with the official MapTool release or any other MapTool release.

You will not be able to use the MT macro function and thus not use it for specific prompts but you can run this Plugin from the command line and provide it some generic grammar such as a your battle cry when you say "battle cry".

When running from the command prompt the voice command will generate output into whatever program has focus. This can be a text editor or...any version of MapTool.

Obviously this kind of a testing is somewhat limited because the grammar can not be changed on the fly.

To use the Plugin from the command line, use:

java -jar Prompt.jar "Grammar" "Plugin_Directory"

Where "Grammar" should be replaced with the desired Grammar (just like when using the Plugin). See the documentation for more details.
Where "Plugin_Directory" is the full drive and path to the Plugins directory. This second parameter is not usually passed to the Prompt plugin but is needed when calling the Plugin from the command prompt.
