1.4 features and release question

Post by xavram »

I was wondering if there's a link anywhere that shows all the new features of version 1.4. I only recently downloaded it, to check out the Isometric maps, and that pretty much blew me away. So i was wondering if there was someplace to look and see what all the goodies are in 1.4.

On the same vein...is there any kind of estimate as to the "official" release of 1.4?

What do you mean by "official release of 1.4" ? Do you mean future releases because 1.4.0 has been released and is on the downloads page

With regard to 1.4.0 features, is is generally a small release, as the main intention was to make a release that was entirely compatible with 1.3b91.
I believe things new in 1.4.0 are:
  • Resource Library Search Function
  • Auto Map Resizing (great feature!)
  • New setTokenheight/width script function
  • New get/setZoom script function
  • New setViewArea script function
  • Adding token Id to get/setGMNotes script function
  • Isometric Maps
  • Figure Tokens
  • Image Tables for Tokens
Also some bug fixing regarding:
  • Overzealously resetting of FoW for all tokens
  • Some Java 8 / CSS issues
  • Cone light source/aura issues when grid size is 1
I've probably missed some. Hopefully other can add things I have missed or add detail.

So, how does one clear soft FOW since ctrl-shift-o no longer works (or Wiki: exposePCOnlyArea())?

No idea. I believe JamzTheMan worked on that, perhaps he can provide details.

Oh cool, didn't realize it was officially out, thought it was still "beta".

Is there any thread that details what "auto map resizing" is, as well as the other new script functions?

Unfortunately there is a lag in getting stuff to the wiki. I am as bad a culprit as anyone.

There is a thread on the map auto sizing feature here

In the wiki:
getZoom
setViewArea

It may be a bug unfortunately. I'll have to create a new/fresh workspace again to test/fix.

Does it also/only happen when running a server? As a workaround, you may be able to use the FoW View right-click menu when a server is running (with individual views) to clear/set FoW. I believe it calls a different routine.

If it is a bug with my code, Craig should be able to revert that individual change (it's a small change) and post a 1.4.0.1 bug release? I'll see if I can get to it this weekend.
