Isometric zoom issue
Take a look at this...messing around with using isometric images on a map.
In this case, the character is on the token layer, the 2 beds are on the Object layer. All 3 of these are "Figure" tokens, so that they show the whole token when VBL is put on the walls.
Looks nice...but when I zoom the map out...
Whoa, whoa, whoa....ghosts have suddenly lifted up the beds!!!
What gives? This seems like a bit of deal breaker, if zooming the map in/out changes how the images are displayed.

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Bizzare....so the images that were moving around, I had to manually adjust their size to get them to line up with the gird and be proportioned correctly. I set their size to "Medium", then back to Free size, repositioned/sized them...and then the zoom in/out worked fine, no issues.
Baffled....

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Nope, not baffled...I had changed the bed to "Top Down" instead of Figure.
So it appears that if you manually change the size of a "Figure" token, zooming in/out causes the "floating" issue in my screenshots. Is this is a known issue? Because if it is and its not fixable, wow, that means your images have to be PERFECT outside of maptool. And that's rarely going to happen if you getting art assets from the web.
Anyone know what's up here?

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Really, no one? Has no one seen this issue or experienced it?
Jagged? I know you're the main architect of the Isometric map functionality, not picking on you, but just figuring you would know the most about this.

Re: Isometric zoom issue
I haven't been able to duplicate this effect.
Perhaps if you can provide a link to your campaign, I can test.

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Let me try replicating the effect on a different computer, different map and see if it's an issue there too. if it is, then I'll figure out a way to get you a copy of the campaign to look it over.

Try this Jagged
http://www.filedropper.com/jagged
The square "forge" on the left is on the Token layer and is Large size. The one on the right is on the Object layer and has been resized in "Free Size". As you zoom in/out on the map, you'll see the one on the right move up and down on your screen, changing its relative position on the map.

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Well the "good news" is that I can now see the effect an have something to investigate
My first guess is that I have made some error regarding how figure tokens are scaled, if the base image has been resized.

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Haha, yes, it is good news/bad news...
"I'm not going insane!"
"Ah man, a bug..."
As I'm starting to really use/understand the isometric maps, I'm sure I will have more questions coming...

Re: Isometric zoom issue
More good news. I think I have found the bug.
Basically I was only scaling the Figure Y coordinate offset when the token was a set size. So you should a fix released soon.
So thank you very much for taking the time to report the bug and provide test examples, that really helped.
Cheers!

Re: Isometric zoom issue
I didn't really consider "Figure" type tokens or stamps every being "free size" since all the logic is based around the grid cell they are "standing" in. When you free size an image, there is no strong relationship to a grid cell. However I have made some changes to make tokens or stamps that are both "Figure" types and "free size" behave a bit more consistently.
I expect this fix to make it into the next release. When you load an existing campaign with "free size" figure tokens, they should no longer float up and down as you zoom. You should be able to resize them as well, and the image won't similarly shift outside the bounding box.
cheers

Re: Isometric zoom issue
Good stuff Jagged, looking forward to playing with it.
Re: Isometric zoom issue
FYI, this did the trick...thanks!

Great, you are my chief tester!
