Resource Images not caching
When I load 1.4.1.7 Maptools slowly reloads the resource images in the library window, on changing to a different resource directory it slowly loads those images apparently not caching them. Is this due to it being a dev version?

Re: Resource Images not caching
To clarify what's going on, MapTool only "cache's" thumbnail creation if the size was less than the thumnail size needed. eg if the original image was 25x35 it didn't create a "thumb" and didn't cache the image in the .maptool directory.
Before 1.4.1.x the thumbnail size was 100x100 IIRC. As of 1.4.1.x it is now 500x500. This allows us to zoom images (using the slider or mousewheel) so you can better view larger images like maps or finer images without pixelization. So we don't cache anything smaller than that anymore (otherwise you would just end up with two copies of the same image, one in your original drive location and one in thumbnail cache). It does use a little more memory but I think the benefits are worth it.
Now, if you have a old cache, it may be pretty large (not so much as in MB but thousands of files) which can slow down the search as it needs to search through the cache and the original drive locations. In the bottom right, you will see a thumbtack and a size in kb/mb/gb telling you how large this cache is. You can double click that box and it will 0 out clearing the cache and rebuild as needed (without any harm to MT). You should see performance return by clearing the cache.
As a side note, any new .rptok tokens saved will also have a newer larger thumbnail saved with it so the asset window will display less pixelated image for those...

Re: Resource Images not caching
Thank you for the info on the cache, I did the dblclk to clear the cache and display speed of images is back to normal.
