I know that 1.4.0.5 is the "official" version of Maptool, is there an ETA of when the new features/functionality of 1.4.1.7 will make it into the "official" code? Or will these always be seperate...and if so, how come?

no 1.4.2.1 will contain the stuff of .7 and will be backward compatible and stable enough for release. The main reason it takes so long to get the next version out is because of the java wrapping with it and creating a build for it. That and real life.

Gotcha, okay, so 1.4.2 will have all the goodies...:)

and in the mean time you can safely use 1.7 ive been using it since its release without issue. AFAIK the only (introduced) bug is a lag in the thumbnail caching if you use a large library. I always drag and drop straight from windows so I've never encountered that issue. The workaround is clearing the cache (IRC clicking on a lower right icon). For the rest it has all the goodies and works like a charm.

My current game is being run by a DM that's only been a player using Maptool, not a DM. I'm helping him out, since he's using my framework, but I don't think it would be helpful to throw the new stuff (lumens, token VBL, other stuff) at him while he's still getting his feet wet.

However, when i run my next game, I will definately look at using the 1.7 version, if the 1.4.2.x isn't out yet.
