Question about Manual Player vs. Manual NPC

Post by gfrantsen »

Sorry, new to the tool so hope this isn't too dumb a question.
Here's the situation -
I want to enter the player's initiative (they roll it themselves) but I want the tool to roll the NPCs.
How do I define which is which?
How do I tell the tool that this group are players?
Thanks.

Welcome to the boards gfrantsen!

You use the category of the combatant to tell which are players and which aren't. If you are using the default D&D settings there is a category called PC and a category called NPC that can be used to tell which is which.

Thanks for the response.
I tried that and it's not working.
Of course, I'm not using the D&D categories. I'm planning on using this for my Hollow Earth Expeditions game. I set up three categories, PC, NPC, Monster.
All of them seem to fall under the NPC category when doing initiative.

Go to where you set up the categories (Combatant Categories tab on the Tools->Game Settings dialog) and look for the Player checkbox. Make sure it is checked for all of your player categories.
