Trying to use TokenTool to no avail. very frustrated.

Post by confusedperson1 »

Hi. I am having the darndest of times trying to use this program. I am using WinRaR. I was all excited to use this, downloaded the link on the download page, ran into some problems. WinRaR is archiving the .jar file. Okay, easy peazy, let me just uncheck the .jar box in the setting/integrations section. Psyche, doesn't work. Okay let me read the forums. Java, use Java, okay ill use Java. Download latest version of Java, doesn't really do anything. Lets search the forums again, okay, here is this old link, let me click that. Message comes up asking me if I want to run it with Java. "You're freaking right I do!" I think to myself. Success! I am using the tool. Not educated how yet but that is the next step. Okay but then the program freezes, no big deal ill just exit and hit that same link. Nope, now I am opening it in WinRaR again. Except now it is giving me real files which seems like progress. One file says "doc." I click it, and find the java.exe on my drive. Now I am getting a quick black screen in Java and then nothing. Honestly, please help. I am very frustrated and all I want to do is make sick tokens of goblins and ghouls for roll20 but am about to give up.

Hi,

You're not the first to report an issue using the tokentool. So to check I just downloaded it and tested it....and it worked flawlessly. Not helping, I know.

So lets go through this.

1. having winrar is a bit of a pain as it associates itself with .jar files and screws up the java link. I gathered that you already 'unlinked' it.
2. AFTER you have unlinked winrar I strongly suggest that you uninstall ALL java versions and download a new version (its quite likely that due to the winrar association, all kind of stuff get FUBnAR).
3. Download the correct java version. I assume you have a x64 bit OS and the default java is x32 so you need to download it manually from here: https://www.java.com/nl/download/manual.jsp
4. install java
5. run "tokentool-1.0.b28.jar" but simply double clicking on it.

I'm assuming since it has been a week since you posted this that Wolph resolved your problem. In the future, might I suggest using 7zip instead of WinRAR? (http://www.7-zip.org)/download.html[/url]

I'm running into the same problem, and none of this seems to be working. Even downloaded 7-zip

FYI, it's a MapTool download but TokenTool IS bundled with it...
