Hi, so I had an interesting situation today.
Had a new guy ready to join our group. We are currently on 1.4.0.5.
He downloaded latest (dev) version .. 1.4.1.7 .. on his Win 8 surface.
Ran fine, but it displayed as v1.4.1.8.
(I checked online, the latest DEV version is 1.4.1.7 ... O.o)
His downloaded file had v1.4.1.7 in the name, however, when he ran it, the version displayed on the launcher (and in help about) showed 1.4.1.8.
I downloaded what I believe is same file (ie same link), I see v1.4.1.7
So what's going on? anyone have any wild ideas how this is possible?
O.o
MT 1.4 on microsoft surface?

Dev 1.4.1.8 was out briefly... and then pulled due to a problem with the launcher: http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=27292
Your friend just "got lucky" and grabbed it while the 1.4.1.8 version was up.

Lol. I had the same problem last night. I was running 1.4.8 on one machine and had neglected to update the other machine I use for the players, so we had to work it old school style with pen, paper, and our imaginations.

I thought I saw him re-download after I did ... which would imply he picked up the proper version .. but wasn't working ..
Thanks though .. it does explain the discrepency . mostly.

It looks like it's still there to download... but you should both download and use the 1.4.1.7 version until .8 (or whatever the next version is called) is fixed for windows users. Not sure why it wasn't pulled once it was "rescinded"...Ditto wrote: hnmm ok .. good to know.

Re: MT 1.4 on microsoft surface?
There were reports of launcher issues I believe, sorry for the confusion!
FYI, the dev version doesn't let you install a older version over a newer version too, so uninstall first if you need to rollback.
1.4.1.8 should be available and ok to test.

Re: MT 1.4 on microsoft surface?
It was. But then wolph wanted to test it and the simplest thing to do was add it back to the Download page.Full Bleed wrote:Not sure why it wasn't pulled once it was "rescinded"...
Re: MT 1.4 on microsoft surface?
and it turned out that there were launcher issues when I checked 'with console'. I haven't come round with further testing.
