Um... Skype will use port 80 if all other ports are blocked. At least that is the way it was. Have they changed it to not use port 80 anymore? Please tell me that that is the case. No, it still likes to use port 80. That's why I suggested a protocol proxy -- I haven't analyzed skype's use of port 8...

If it is your IT folks, would you mind asking them how they block it? I would love to be able to block it at work, but so far it is proving unblockable which opens the security issues I've discussed in other threads. To block nearly everything except web traffic: 1) block all ports 2) allow outgoin...

Skype's bad rep
Stepping into the way back machine for a sec, when we started maptool we had a gaming group with one person who was out of town from the rest of us. Maptool was born to handle the map sharing. We used skype with a couple of omni mics in Austin, and our one (sometimes 2-3) players remote on whatever ...

The main fileserver at work decided to crap out on me today. The raid failed. [...] Server = Win2003. It is a raid 5 configuration between 4 drives. That sucks. 2 disk failure on raid 5 == restore from backups. You could try cloning disk 3, the result would still be bad data on those sectors but yo...

I heard a rumor that someone over here was running this, I would LOVE to hear some actual plays on it, see how you liked it/hated it, etc. Hey Snik, Jay is running giliath and myself and the rest of our gaming group through it now. It's lots of fun, and we're using it as a jumping off point into th...

Nothing goes into the player's (or GM's) Resource Library from being used on a map. Images from play go into the asset cache and expire after a time. Correct, and things you put in your (GM's) Resource Library don't go to the Player's Resource Library either. If that is your goal you need to distri...

Something else is using that port. Change your port number when you start the server, I think we have the default at 15432 but you can choose anything on windows (some will be in use by windows services, so avoid <1024). Also, close MapTool and check your processes list and make sure there aren't an...

RE: Pictures of Face to Face MapTool usage
We've done a single screen for all the players, and using it on individual computer screens (once everyone had laptops). The individual computer screen most resembles your #2, but we didn't have a projector. For our group, it was sufficient to use a couple of wireless mice and a 19" CRT monitor...
