Re: Minecraft
Bloody Minecraft - it's really interfering with my RPG and RL!! Don't start, it's like a drug... -- AidyBaby -- It's FAR too late for that sort of warning. A friend of mine said "It's like a game editor without a game." I told him to think about that for a minute and then think abo...

The folks over at Twenty Sided have an awesome minecraft server. See some of the stuff they've built here: http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=9887&cpage=1#comment-174528 They have it restricted to just about 15-20 concurrent players, and they have it build restricted. In otherwords, y...

Skype 5 & MultiParty Video Chat
Now that Skype 5 is out of beta, I want to comment on it a bit. Frankly, I recognize that opinions differ widely on the utility/desirability of video chat during maptool RPG sessions. Some folks ONLY want text, some ONLY want voice, and the rest want video, voice & text. That's me. I want it all...

Way of Kings [Stormlight Archives]
I'm still reading Brandon Sanderson's latest tome. Calling this a mere 'book' doesn't really do it justice. It's 1008 pages, with NINE more volumes in the series planned (though I suspect it will end up being bigger). I'm about a 3rd of the way into it, and I'm very pleased with it. Quite possible h...

Re: eBook Readers
So I got my Kindle 3 in and I love it. I'm happy with the purchase, though I recognize it wouldn't be worth it for someone who never reads books. You know, I've met some people that don't read books. I haven't quite figured out what's wrong with them, but I consider it a major shortcoming. Personal...

Re: My Son's Mad About MapTool
MapTool is child's play  For a long time now my son Jack (10) has enjoyed drawing strange soldiers and monsters having battles and as he's become older those drawings have become ever more complex. Then he started inventing rules, giving out stats and abilities based upon the drawings. Obv...

I really think this has a lot of potential. Just hope they handle the source material with the proper amount of respect.

Guillermo Del Toro to direct Lovecraftian Movie (DIT)
http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/24627/1/DEL-TORO-TO-FINALLY-CLIMB-THE-MOUNTAINS-OF-MADNESS/Page1.html I have not actually read ATMOM, but I have to say this seems like the kind of horror flick I could actually enjoy. Saw & its ilk hold no interest for me. Is anyone else excited about this?

Re: eBook Readers
This is why all my e-books are BAEN titles, or manually stripped of DRM... Also, Baen's ebooks are 15/mo for 6 books (admittedly a few will be older books, and have perphaps shown up in a previous webscription...) Not only that, a Baen also releases a LOT of their books with NO DRM for free. It's p...

I ended up getting the Droid Incredible. In case anyone cares :) LOL I have a couple of questions about that, actually. Did you choose it because you felt it was the best phone on Verizon, or because you like it better than other android phones like the EVO (e.g., did you switch carriers)? For me, ...

Also are there any really good free apps people can recommend? Some apps I have in my EVO: Barcode Scanner - use it for tracking the books I buy RockPlayer - video player that handles more formats than the MP4 Tricorder - for fun but it displays a ton of info based on what sensors and capabilities ...

For those that are interested, my character is DarkSarin and the character code is 686. If you want to add me as a 'friend', that's fine, just let me know.

Re: Starcraft 2
Hawke, that's a real bummer!! I've just read that because some of the single player scenes run with no framerate cap that some people are seeing overheating if they don't have adequate cooling. My advice is to make sure that your case is well ventilated/cooled. On the flip side, this is where being ...
