Re: MapTool for Hexploration Game

Yea, two instances it would be. But the actual procedure would be just the other way round: I have the complete map, which I want to hide from the Players at first. I can introduce blank hexes in the object layer and set them to hidden once the characters can see the covered hex. I only shy away fro...

MapTool for Hexploration Game

My players have reached a part of our campaign where they'll have to make some good, ol' hexploration. We usually play without friend computer. I have now either the option to prepare some large (45 times 45 hexes) blank map and have them build the map during play or use MapTool for this Scenario, t...

Re: You experience of Hero Lab?

How long ago did you try? You don't need to run the DDI Downloader any more, you download the content as a single package maintained by the user community. About one year ago? I had been working with the DDI Downloader so your version should be more recent. Wonder what WotC thinks of the idea to of...

Re: You experience of Hero Lab?

I fooled around with a demo version of HeroLab and trying to scrape the DDI contents with the tool you may find on the Net. The idea is to get all of the Compendium into HeroLab. Alas, I wasn't successful. Despite several attempts I couldn't get it running completely; even building a basic 1st level...

Re: [1.3b91] Yet another Java-strangeness

Oh well, it isn't that important, truth be told. I'll do a parallel install of an older Java version for the upcoming game. Just finding it irritating that even a complete re-install of the OS doesn't alleviate the problem.

Re: [1.3b91] Yet another Java-strangeness

Another update. I finally did a complete re-install of the computer last weekend. Now the OS is patched, and I've installed only Kaspersky Internet Security and the latest Java 8. Maptool still shows exactly the same behaviour.

Guess I'll be giving up here. :(

Re: Using a skill check to find a hidden forest trail in D&D

It would be a strange forest if there's only one track/trail. I'd have the player role any appropriate skill and introduce problems and/or encounters based on the result. On a 1 the character mistook the trail of a dangerous forest denizen as the one he has looked for. On a critical he found the cor...

Re: WotC license for Fantasy Grounds

If they are pricing in wiggle room for near constant promotions, maybe it's ok. I just know how hard it is to get a group of cheapskates to chip in for anything more than beer and pizza. ;) What? Your players give you perks? Lucky bastard! The price vs value for the product surely depends on availa...

Re: WotC license for Fantasy Grounds

Individual Licenses are $39 or $3.99 a month. Their Ultimate License is $149 or $9.99 a month (allows you to GM games with people who don't have licenses). It's $49.99 for the 5e "D&D Complete Core Monster Pack" and $49.99 for the 5e "D&D Complete Core Class Pack". So fo...

WotC license for Fantasy Grounds

Hi folks,

apparently Wizards of the Coast make some kind of movement in the digital world:

Re: Advertising on RPTools.net

No problem with the typical message board advertisements here. Regarding their game-relatedness: is that possible? I always assumed that some Google analytics provided the contents of the ads on a specific site. Why else would I be treated to Hamamatsu ads at ENWorld or RPG.net? Huldvoll winkend ---...

Re: Das Schwarze Auge 4.1 (DSA 4.1) - German Framework

I dont think its available anymore. I bought it 30!! years ago. (god im old...) Then you'll be in for a shock when you try to understand version 4.1  The light weight game of old has grown into a veritable behemoth, which tries to provide a rule for each and everything. And I mean everything....

That's exactly what I was looking for: an outline of the procedure. I'll give it a shot tonight or tomorrow. Good thing it's still some time before I do need it.

Re: 5e D&D Framework

Noob Alert!!! Umh, it's the very first time I'm trying to use a framework, so please pardon my dumb questions... Well, how exactly do I create a PC? I can copy the template and edit its properties, but it still remains a rather empty template. How do I get the stuff for, say, a dwarven cleric to thi...
