Re: Solutions to my isometric problems

The work involved can be limited if you do the whole map at once. But, it is still work. That's why I'll probably add a fifth and sixth view of the token (a top-down and a portrait) to be able to use the same token on multiple styles of maps. I would also love to be able to make more things with the...

Solutions to my isometric problems

It has been a very long time since I used isometric representation on Maptool. I had turned to Tabletop Simulator mostly, but, finally, the two problems that I had with iso were not so impossible to solve. Namely, the lack of tokens (and figures with orientations, not standing without rotating), and...

Re: 1.5 issue with Mac

I think that the problem is that, in the server info window, on the server side, no name appears, though I have given a name when launching it. It doesn't show the server name on the LAN tab. It shows the GM name. Unless there's another server running in the same room, it should be the only thing t...

Re: 1.5 issue with Mac

Yes, I have no problem launching a second instance of Maptool. The problem is that the instance used as a server doesn't appear in the LAN list of servers in the second instance. It is something new for me on 1.4 (1.4.1.8); I have been using this setup for years with earlier versions of the applicat...

Re: 1.5 issue with Mac

I have already a problem (on Mac also) with 1.4. I can launch two instances of the program, but if I make one a server, it doesn't appears in the LAN listing of the other instance as it used to do with older versions. So, I can not use a second instance as a display for players as I used to do.

Go Gots maps

I have found some maps (battlemaps parchment style) on Deviantart . They are quite nice, but what is really interesting is that the author also provides all the elements you need to make your own . And that's not all, he also gives the autorisation to use the maps you make from its elements in any w...

Re: Isometric map builder

I've just discovered that Profantasy has an add-on for Campaign Cartographer called Perspectives that does isometric stuff Turning a 2D map into isometric is no big deal (rotate and scale), but extruding the flat elements is quite intriguing, how does the vertical part looks like? BTW, if you are r...

Re: Isometric map builder

Oh there are some ressources, but a big part are strategic mapping stuff. And those that could be used in a battlemap are few enough, when compared to top down ressources, that you'll have to make your scenario to fit your maps instead of making the map to fit your scenario. If you try, for exemple,...

Re: Isometric map builder

There is already a (very good) isometric (and orthogonal btw) map builder. It is Tiled and it is free. What is lacking are iso ressources to use with it. And there doesn't seem to be enough interest for VTT isometric display for ressources to be produced.

I would still advise offset instead of copy/paste as it fills the four corners in one operation instead of four.

Re: Creating textures for isometric maps

Same thing in GIMP (free).
- duplicate layer
- layer > offset (by the half size of x and y dimensions)

Re: Creating textures for isometric maps

From memory, in Photoshop, I would say:
- duplicate layer
- filter > shift horizontally and vertically by half the size of your image

and you have a tilable iso texture.

Re: Token Tool for 1.4 Isometric maps?

You can make tokentool frames in any style you want. I think that vertical portraits look better when using isometric maps. The token here: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ik5y3-mRBVI/UlGmuQaBvCI/AAAAAAAAAuk/gEJr2fd0CKI/s1600/Isometric4.png was made by dropping an illustration into tokentool using the fra...

Re: MapTools as Battle Map

Sharing the same monitor is probably going to become very tedious quite quickly for you (switching from GM to players view while hiding content,...).. I am mostly playing with one laptop and one external monitor ( as described here ), which means that I carry my laptop wherever we are playing (with ...
