Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

Sounds like it'll be really futurisic. One thing you may consider is adapting the face reconition work being done on RPi to reconizing minitures; here's a link to the start of that rabbit hole http://letsmakerobots.com/node/36947 ~ Then you could have phisical minitures placed ontop of the table wit...

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

@arusiasotto thank you for that detailed writeup on X-11! I've been struggeling with that way of accessing the GUI of spicific Linux apps, off and on, for a while. One suggestion I've seen is to use SSH's port forwarding commands to forward the server's X11 port (RPi) to an unused local port on the ...

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

DebianKit is still available via sourceforge; bit more work but still available. I've used LinuxDeploy many moons ago, HardFloat will generally be faster and less power hungery so use that if hardware supports it. I found lxde desktop to be sufficent for GUI related tasks but for the fastest refresh...

Re: MapTool as a dedicated (standalone, headless) server?

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=766836#p766836 @foobar1234 I've posted the first working draft of how-to setup RPi server for headless or headfull hosting at the above link. In the future I'll be hosting a web site off a RPi that'll have full guides on the different devices I work...

Re: running on Raspberry Pi?

RPi is cappible of running Maptools. I've found xRDP to be faster on the reffresh rate when working headless via Android or laptop running Windows or Ubuntu. For forwarding the desktop I suggest VNC though because you can setup a view only password for forwarding the desktop (mirrored) to a Nintindo...

Re: maptool to run in kioskmode ( view only )

If ya check the sticky in this section of the forum you'll find how I run Maptools off and to Android or Raspberry Pi, as well as how I've run the view to a modded Nintendo Wii. To run automatticly at boot you can place bash scripts in /etc/rc.local (just above the "exit 0" ;-)) ~or if app...

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

Screenshot_2015-05-24-00-24-27.png Quick update; Rasperry Pi model B plays Maptools version 1.3.b91 just fine. Though a bit choppy when pipped-out to my Android over xRDP the interface is still workable. I've attached a screen shot of my RPi running Maptools above. The starter kits for about $70 on...

Re: Rp tools for android based OS

Preach it, brother. I hope you can make it work. I can't call for an amen just yet... But I do have a bit of progress # java -jar netx-0.5.jar -jnlp MapTools-.jnlp results in netx: Spec version not supported (supports 1.0) I'll be digging into the file itself as it's just a fancy pointer to the act...

Re: Rp tools for android based OS

MapTools is a heavy, heavy client that does all sorts of work. Even if you could get it running I don't think a mobile device is going to work. You could try screen sharing with a desktop. I think I've read of folks making that work. Oh have a bit of faith ;-) I got the server running on Android an...

Re: Rp tools for android based OS

So it's been a little while... I'm now working on web hosting now that I've figured out most of the Android issues with running Maptools... I've done some searching and reading but can't find much about running Maptools off a webhost. Should I dig deeper or work on my own answer? Edit: looks like th...

Re: Maptools and Chromecast

Tried running a PC with Mozilla and desktop mirroring; couldn't get it to work.

However I did get the Nintendo Wii to accept streeming of Maptools running from my Android server; perhaps an app will let me mirror my Androids screen to Cromecast, I'll do a little digging.

[content removed due to external links unrelated to gaming and for being kinda spammy]

I'm still active in checking around here for questions I can answer, so to any reader, feel free to hit me up with questions or requests related to Maptools or any of my other projects.

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

Well,,that streamlines the process greatly, however, my system still doesn't recognize java. any attempt to run the commands ends with it not found. Updated script again, hopefully I found the issues, be sure that you're running Debian Squeeze and running as a "normal" user with sudo perm...

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

Good update of the OP, however the images are still not showing! They only show when you are logged in in google and using chrome (which aint everyone). Maybe you should move them to photobucket or such? Thanks; I'll be re-writing the OP in the next few days and I've got a photobucket account under...

Re: [Guide] Maptools for Android | Confirmed Working+Easy Sc

I factory reset the device and reinstalled linux, this time with a 2 gig image. Then ran your script, this time successfully, and installed maptool. Now I just need to figure out how to launch it. If you right click the .jar file for maptools and select open with, under the new popup window on the ...
