Re: What does MapTool 1.4 offer?

I have looked through the dev forum and havent been able to figure out what 1.4 offers over 1.3. Is there are comprehensive feature list, or description of differences anyway? Yikes. 1.4 is pretty ancient at this point and is actually not supported due to security issues (resolved in 1.8.) There is...

Check out the page for the Startup tab: https://wiki.rptools.info/index.php/Map ... tartup_Tab
Well, there you go... that's exactly the type of direct link I was lobbying for.

Re: MapTool 1.10.2 Available for Download

If people will read the page that RPTroll linked to, they see your first two points covered. To be fair, there are bullet points, italics, "notes", and even a "strongly encouraged" suggestion mixed into highlights, bug fixes, changes, and platform notes. A lot of that is the sort of thing that caus...

Re: MapTool 1.10.2 Available for Download

I think these release announcements need to include notes to: 1) Backup and remove any resource or campaign files from the MapTool installation directories before uninstalling or installing a new version of MT. 2) Uninstall previous version of MT before installing new version. 3) And, until we get i...

This works: [H: tTokenID=getSelected()] [H: tStateInfo=""] [H: tStateIcons=""] [H: tStateList="Dead, Disabled, Hidden, Prone"] [h, FOREACH(state, tStateList, ""), CODE: { [h: tStateInfo = if(getState(state, tTokenID) == 1, listAppend(tStateInfo, state), tStateInfo)] } ] [h: broadcast(tStateInfo)]

How did I miss overlay???
Been around about a year and a half now... but tutorials and wiki examples are pretty thin... so there are very few uses of it.

This dropin happens to be one of the better ones implementing it.

Re: Upgrade procedure

Noted. Would be nice to be able to upgrade smoothly without mucking around resetting the memory settings and direct3d flag every time. I agree. You can show some support for making the the d3d flag off by default here: https://github.com/RPTools/maptool/issues/2982 As for the having to edit the mem...

Edit: Actually removing previous version doesn't nuke registry.
Correct.
So just back up maptool.cfg and uninstall, reinstall.
I would not do this. The format of the cfg file can change between versions.

Re: Unleash the potential of MapTool, make it a creation powerhouse foremost.

"Don't let the name fool you", literally first sentence on the homepage. That was "literally" half the first sentence on the homepage. Don’t let the name fool you, MapTool is far more than just maps. It's official, the name is misleading. Few people would categorize something being "far more" than ...

Re: Unleash the potential of MapTool, make it a creation powerhouse foremost.

If MapTool is not a tool to make maps, but to be a VTT, then why is it named MapTool? Maybe because it's a tool to make playing games on "maps" easier? Milwauke Tools makes great tools, but none of them make Milwauke. I have many Hand Tools, but they don't make very good hands. I use my Multi-Tool ...

Re: Unleash the potential of MapTool, make it a creation powerhouse foremost.

I agree that Maptool could be a better "Map Maker", BUT... There really are a lot of really great map makers out there already and years of development could go into MT map making development and it would still fall short of most of these. Full disclosure, I'm ripping this list straight from a roll2...

I appreciate the reply. I am happy to say that I found a copy of the files I wanted to open from 1.3.b85 that I was able to open in 1.9.3. I've got access to all of the things I was hoping for.
Not bad. 1.3.b85 is a 10.5 year old release. ;)

Re: Help creating a new window| Beginner

I want to learn how to create custom windows to organize a system the way I like it. I'm still learning to program and edit macros, so I don't have the slightest idea how to create a new window like "chat" and "library". I think forms are kind of difficult for a new macro writer. I would use frames...
