Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Love the evolution of this framework - thanks, Rod! As an aid to others, here are my own observations on 2.4 vs 2.4.3. Having spent significant time with both v2.3 and 2.4, I wanted to take a little time to understand what is changed in 2.4.3 before making my decision on when to migrate my 2.4-based...

Re: 5e Spell Library - Addon for Melek's Simple 5e Framework

However, my library is designed to be a "drop-in" for Melek's framework. This mean defining new states, halos, or light sources is outside the scope of the library. You can ask Melek to ceate these states/halos/lights/etc., and if he does, I'll do my best to have the spells assign them. Fair enough...

Re: 5e Spell Library - Addon for Melek's Simple 5e Framework

Merudo: Thanks so much for your great spellbook drop-in. If you are seeking input for enhancement ideas, I offer the following: 1) If casting a Concentration spell and prior spell cast was also Concentration, offer caster a dialog along the lines of "Casting <spell2> will disrupt your concentration ...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

This PowerShell script will convert the entire 5etools item files available in the downloaded 5etools source into a JSON string that can be directly pasted into the Import field of Rod's item database. The two files are in the data subdir. I was able to fully convert and import 777 items with full s...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

This is a massively revised and improved version of my PowerShell tool to convert background definitions exported from 5etools into things compatible with Rod's great framework. There's a bunch of notes in the opening comments. Check and adjust the path definitions around line 75 for your environmen...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

I've been playing around with backgrounds that have apostrophes in them. I cannot figure out how to properly escape them in the Backgrounds list, however. All text prior to the single quote are dropped on output. Example: in AI there's a background called "Celebrity Adventurer's Scion" The backgroun...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Indeed, I've been playing around with mass import of various things using 5etools-style json files as input. Here's a PowerShell script that will take background definitions and create a file whose contents can be copy/pasted into the Feats table. I still need to work on a couple of enhancements (se...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Just finished upgrading from FW 2.0x to 2.3. I like the new DM page graphics, and really like the multiple new windows into things like Races, Feats, and particularly spell lists. Basically, the new lib:Tables stuff looks interesting. I'll have to study up on how to integrate the 3x new subclasses I...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

I've found an apparent bug. I was mass importing a bunch of items to the spell database and I had a malformed entry caused by a bad regex that I didn't notice until later. The entry appears as a 3rd level spell with title of [d](roll "1d")ngues and no body. This entry, however, defies attempts to de...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

I have no idea what could be happening, I tried following your steps a bunch of times with some variations and it worked fine, all I did was duplicate Thief, rename it and add Arcane Trickster to the subclass list exactly as you did, I usually get that switchToken error when I am in a map and the t...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Thanks Rod. Re: my work to re-do state icons, etc. Phase 1 is just to finish the analysis of spells so I can clearly lay out what effect(s) are associated with each spell and ensure I have appropriate state icons, Light defs, and tokens. I'll probably then run it in my home game for a while just doi...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Thanks Rod. I'm actually working (quite slowly) on two different projects that I'm hoping to someday fold into your FW. The first is to write some kind of text manipulation code to convert some pre-existing JSON sources of spells and bestiary data into a format that will import into your framework. ...

Re: Rod's D&D 5e Framework

Thanks for all the hard work on this. I've been using your older framework for my campaign. Is there a simple way to update my existing .cmpgn to your 2.0 version that doesn't involve starting off with a complete blank/empty .cmpgn? I had hoped I could simply delete the older Lib:Campaign token and ...

Re: Long wait times on Loading Campaign

What you describe - particularly the bit about players getting stuck at 46/47 or even getting to 100% and seeing black - sounds EXACTLY like what I faced when first starting to use MT. In my case, I eventually traced it to the fact that the room I was playing in turned out to have poor wireless conn...

Thanks to the devs!

I just wanted to pass along my thanks to the developers for all they've done to produce such a great tool! The friends of my youth and I are recently returned to D&D after close to a 40 year hiatus. Of course, unlike our high school days, we no longer live in close proximity to each other and withou...
