Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

I guess my point is that I can't really envision a way to make some generic thingy that holds arbitrary text and makes it available to the UI to be changed any quicker than it does now. Perhaps something like "add note" to the right click menu which pops up a smallish text box dialog wind...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

Ok.. This makes sense now. But at least currently, why not make use of the Notes section of the token? Also note that things such as "turn undead for 6 rounds" should probably be an Initiative tool event(which is not directly supported now, though there are tons of ways to "hack"...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

The problem here is how will Maptool know anything about your game system X? At the end of the day, this is what user created frameworks will be for and you can use them now if someone has taken the initiative to create one (or more!!) for your specific game system. This doesn't need to be system-s...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

I just found this topic, and I haven't read through all 20 pages of it, so if I'm duplicating previous comments, I apologize. I'll try and keep my suggestions brief in case someone has written them before. 1) Mimic Google/Yahoo/Bing maps as much as possible, so that new users don't have to re-learn ...

There is: set the timeout to "999999". ;)

Setting it to 0 also works, and avoids the possibility that the autosave will kick in if you leave MapTool running for 2 years at a stretch. ;)

Re: [1.3.b63] Click and move error

Confirmed on 10.6.2. Command+Left-Click with either the freehand tool or the straight-lines tool selected causes the above error to occur. The box tool, oval tool, and text tool do not give errors, but they do draw their respective shapes when Command+Left-Click is used, which is probably not expect...

Re: [1.3b60 & 62] (Auto)Save failure

We do play over a network though one gm pc and one players pc. Doesn't such a high memory size influence the speed (transfer over network)? Nope, it shouldn't--giving MapTool a higher memory allocation just gives it more space in which to perform whatever calculations it needs to do. That won't aff...

Re: Autosaves

Yeah, files that start with a period are hidden by default under Mac OS X. I suggest doing the following: 1) Switch to the Finder 2) Select Go->Go to Folder... 3) Type "/Users/[yourusernamehere]/.maptool/" in the dialog that appears. A new window will appear where you can access the .mapto...

Re: Current Stability: where does it rank?

I also voted eight--I have personally had practically no problems with any of the b60+ releases. The few problems I have had are generally minor: -A graphical glitch that seems to be limited to Macs http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=10637 -A very minor UI bug that I noticed a couple...

[1.3b62] Minor UI bug: "Impersonate Selected" doesn't appear

This is a very minor bug, but hopefully one that can be reproduced easily and fixed quickly: 1. Place two tokens on a map. 2. Click on Token 1, click "Impersonate Selected" in the Impersonate pane (just noticed, this pane is called "Impersonated" in the title bar of the pane, but...

Re: Music Tool or does anyone know of any programs out there?

I just recently started thinking about playing sound effects/music over voice chat, and I came up with this Mac OS X-only solution; it's nastily complicated, but it's pretty powerful, so I thought I'd post. This may not be the best way to set this up--there are some other programs that I haven't pla...

Re: MT 1.3b62 Progress

I'm guessing is an inefficiency of the drawing routine. For example, you drag the tokens and let go and it goes back and recalculates the A* path over and over, once for each token, when the pathing had already been done so that it could be displayed. Or perhaps it's the process of moving the token...

Re: Mac Question

Yeah, it's a right-click. Since you're a touchpad user, you'll likely hit the bug wherein panning the map (using the right-click on the touchpad) prevents tokens from being selected in the future with a left-click. If this happens to you and you'd like to try out a fix that I've written, I can send...

Re: Sometimes laggy- Sometimes silky smooth- HELP!

First off, could you provide your operating system and Java version? Second, I don't claim to be an expert on troubleshooting MapTool performance issues; your problem doesn't look like anything I've encountered. However, two things that could provide some more information about what's happening are:...

[b60] New Add Resource Feature questions/confusion

I've been playing with the new Add Resource feature in b60, and I'm either not using it properly, or I'm encountering a bug; I'm not quite sure which. Here are a few things I've tried: Test1 1) Start local web server. 2) Open MapTool, drag a few assets (both rptoks and images) to the map. 3) File->E...
